Pit Bull Training tips: 5 ways to stop excessive barking

Published on Thursday, December 10, 2009 by admin

barking pitbullAt a friendly barbecue I asked my dog, ‘Lisa is you smart?’ She immediately responds with a bark. After I had asked Lisa a series of questions and she had responded similarly, my pals were thrown off balance.

One of my astounded pals wanted to know how it was done. I told them Lisa was smart and understood English.

My friend is not a ‘dog person’ and he believed she could understand human language.

Dogs can recognize the sound of a word rather than the meaning. They pick up on the emphasis and react to that.

Anyway, this was my party trick which I had been taught by the person who helped me with training Lisa. She is a quiet animal who rarely barks or growls. It was some challenge to have her perform, but having learnt she didn’t hold back.

Teaching your pitbull to Talk in Six Easy Steps

One: Use the dog’s favourite treat or toy to get its attention.
Two: Keep it out of reach and tease him with it.
Three: Immediately he barks, praise him and give him a reward.
Four: when you have taught the dog the cue of holding up the toy for a bark, then hold the toy up to the chin and wiggle. Praise and reward the bark. You can use a word also as a cue.
Five: You can progress to wiggling your hand near your chin to get him to bark.
Six: Change the cue to something more subtle one which people cannot see.
After you have trained your pitbull to bark, using a hand or voice signal, move cue to the eyes. Lisa barks when I blink twice. As you move your cue from the hand to the face and then to your eyes, praise and reward the dog when he is successful

The Smartest Dogs on the Earth are the pitbulls

pitbull puppy barkingAsk you friend if they knew that pitbulls are quite the cleverest dogs on the earth. At his response tell him you will prove it.  Ask your dog a question s and blink when you say the correct answer so the dog knows to bark. People react in a very interesting manner when they are shown these tricks.

A dog that has been taught to bark on a cue might also use his bark freely after this. You are also learning the way to train the dog to perform subtle commands that focus around you.

There could be some backfiring of these trick training activities. Your dog may begin to offer good behaviour for prizes and treats. Even barking will be one way since this is exactly what you have taught him to do. While it does not pose any kind of problem to me personally, I only mention it so that you could be aware of drawbacks,
You can contact me for any further enquiries in this connection, and I will be happy to assist.
